We are extremely child friendly here with 3 children of our own. We have owned Clydey for over 20 years so it is very family and children focused with 20 acres of grounds – plenty of room for children to run around and play in a safe environment, a children’s indoor softplay room, outdoor play area with sandpit, swings, slide, ride-on toys and a supervised complimentary Children’s Club. In the Games Room we have Table Tennis, Table Football, Air Hockey and Pool as well as a Book Library and Board Games. We have a daily animal feeding and egg collecting routine where children can help ‘The Jolly Clydey Farmer’ collect eggs from the resident chickens and help feed the sheep, pigs, alpacas, goats, guinea pigs, rabbits and Shetland ponies.
The cottages themselves are all converted from farm buildings and barns but we can provide the additional modern day conveniences of full size wooden cots (not travel cots), high-chairs, stair-gates, step-ups, potties, sterilisers, together with plastic crockery, cups and utensils.

Can you have groceries delivered?
back to question list
Yes, you can pre-order your groceries via Tesco.com or Asda or Morrisons and have them delivered directly to your cottage.
To order on-line: you need to use the post-code SA37 0LW and choose ‘Penrallt’ from the list of addresses, making sure you state ‘Clydey Cottages’ and the name of your cottage in the ‘Delivery Instructions’. Please also make sure you place your order for AFTER 5pm and when you know you will definitely be at the cottage to accept the delivery. It is also best to give our phone number for queries (01239 698619) as mobile signal is poor.
Please, please ensure that you change the delivery address from your home address if you currently use Tesco or Asda. We have had two instances where guests have forgotten to do this and their shopping was being delivered to their home address whilst they were waiting for it in Wales!!
How far is the nearest town and supermarket?
back to question list
The nearest town to Clydey is Newcastle Emlyn which is approx. 5-6 miles away. There is a small high street with local shops and two small supermarkets – CK’s and Co-Op.
Cardigan is a larger town (10 miles away) and is an historic market town with more shops and a Tesco supermarket, amongst others. For grocery essentials, there is a petrol station at Cenarth (4 miles from Clydey) with a NISA mini-market attached selling most grocery items.
We also have a small shop within our Reception selling essentials such as butter, milk, preserves, salad dressings, eggs, baby wipes, calpol, toothpaste, swim nappies, pool noodles, arm bands etc. We are constantly adding to the list of items stocked, so please do ask if you need something specifically.
We do also stock delicious frozen meals from the ‘COOK’ range of foods (including toddler/children’s meals) and also locally produced ice-cream from ‘Mary’s Farmhouse’. Guests are welcome to help themselves from the freezers in the Laundry Room (open 24hrs) and then settle their account on departure. You will be sent a list of stocked meals with your final confirmation letter, and you can always telephone us and we will be happy to send you a copy.
Is take away food available nearby?

You will be sent a list of stocked meals with your final confirmation letter, and you can always telephone us and we will be happy to send you a copy.
Yes, we do have wifi on site and within each cottage but it is rural broadband, not unfortunately, superfast fibre. Therefore, whilst it is perfectly adequate to do emails and search website, it is NOT strong enough to stream video or films.
Is there mobile signal at the cottages?
Unfortunately, mobile signal is very weak around the cottages, unless you have wifi calling enabled on your mobile ‘phone. There are ‘phones within each cottage which work off the wifi network and enable guests to make external calls (extra charges apply). Guests can receive incoming calls to their cottages, routed via Reception, but only when Reception is open.
Do you accept pets at Clydey?
No, I’m afraid we do not accept pets at Clydey due to the number of our own animals we have on site, plus the amount of families visiting with small children.
