For the third time in succession, Clydey Cottages have scooped a top award in The Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards which took place on Friday, April 19th at Beggars Reach Hotel, Burton, Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire. Once again, Clydey Cottages won the Gold Award in the Best Non-Serviced Accommodation category, to add to the Awards won in both 2009 and 2011.

We are absolutely delighted to win this Award again and would like to thank all of our staff for their hard work and determination – it’s a real team effort that has made Clydey what it is today. To win three times in succession is such an achievement and makes all of the hard work worth while. There is no doubt that Folly Farm is great fun. Importantly there are both indoor and outdoor activities. The adventure play area offers a racetrack, Carousel Woods, Pirates adventure, Dragon Adventure and Pedal Tractors. The Kids will never get bored and have so much fun.

The Zoo has over 50 different species which amounts to more than 250 animals. On its own the Zoo is a day out! There are keeper talks and feeding times. All of which are set up to help visitors understand more about the wilder animals.

The Vintage Funfair at Folly Farm is the largest undercover vintage funfair in Europe. Try out the fantastic dodgems, Golden Gallopers and Rock n Roll Waltzer. There is also a giant helter skelter that sits just outside the funfair. A must try out.

There are a handful of seaside towns and coastal villages along the path, such as Tenby, St Davids, Solva and Newport and the backpacker attempting longer parts of the trail will consequently find enough shops and campsites along the way, but may need to carry food and water for a couple of days in one or two places. There are also a number of small hotels and guest houses en route, invariably family-run. There are also cottages for hire, often built in traditional styles.

It is no surprise that with the coastal National Park walking is extremely popular. Whether you are a seasoned walker or you are on holiday with your family in Pembrokeshire this is something that we recommend that you do. To appreciate the true beauty of what Pembrokeshire has to offer you must experience the amazing beauty of the coastal walk.

During the spring and early summer the path displays an array of wild coastal flowers, and there is a wealth of bird life. Colonies of seabirds nest along the cliffs, and a huge variety of European seabirds are supported by the uninhabited offshore islands that act as bird sanctuaries, such as Skomer, Skokholm and Ramsey Island. Seals, porpoises and dolphins can often be spotted swimming offshore

We certainly would not expect you to cover its full length but here at Clydey we can advise you of the best way to start and finish your walk experience. There are also a number of companies that run group walks and thus get the experience and knowledge of a local guide.

The Blue Lagoon is simply great fun a place, especially on a wet day to spend a few hours in one of the UK’s premier Water adventure parks. A lazy river exits the building to an outdoor bubble pool. There is an outdoor and indoor spa pool ideal for relaxation and fun, two interactive wet play areas – one for very young children, the other for the not so young.

There are loungers, patios, observation decks and timber walkways and the temperatures and humidity within the structure are maintained at constantly perfect levels.

Overlooking the whole complex are wet and dry café and bar areas. Oh, and in what is believed to be a world first, Blue Lagoon is heated by biomass. Warmth is provided by the nearby energy centre, which is fuelled by woodchip and miscanthus (really tall grass) grown by local farmers.

Folly Farm is a well established adventure park & zoo. This is fun for all ages and a great opportunity for kids to get up close to many animals. Folly Farm opened as a tourist attraction in 1988, a farm diversification project which was the brainchild of dairy farmer Glyn Williams and his wife Anne, a Head Teacher. To this day Folly Farm’s mission remains to “Educate and Entertain”.

Folly farm is truly a great place to visit and you will certainly never get bored. Highly recommended.

Oakwood Theme Park has all the roller coasters you could want. A true gem of a day out. The rides that Oakwood offers cater for all ages and i can assure all the adults will want to be getting on the rides as well. Great rides such as “speed” and “megaphobia” will get you adrenaline buzzing but also more low key rides such as “plane crazy” and “spooky 3D” are just as much fun. In total there are approx 25 amazing fun rides that you can enjoy a great day out. There is plenty of parking so do not worry about your car.

Heatherton is truly a family activity park. Situated not far from tenby Heatherton offers great fun and games for all the family. Heatherton is a free admission attraction, providing a pay when you play facility, allowing customers to choose what they want to partake in before purchasing tickets. Anyone who then does not wish to participate can spectate with no extra cost, but it is guaranteed that once you witness the extensive range of activities on offer, it will be difficult to resist!!

The Sports Park is a dog-friendly attraction, as we at Heatherton appreciate the importance of pets in family life. All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and are not permitted in the main reception or restaurant facilities. Water is provided for dogs outside of main reception.

Heatherton’s staff are all trained and experienced, and provide a fun and safe environment for all customers. Special attention will be given to young children and special needs, to ensure complete enjoyment and safety.

Height and age restrictions can apply to some activities, so you are recommended to either check the restrictions of the activities within the website or call main reception.

During a tour of some of Pembrokeshire’s premiere accommodation providers Edwina Hart AM – Minister for Business, Enterprise, Technology and Science visited the award winning Clydey Cottages Pembrokeshire in Boncath near Cardigan.

In recent years, Clydey Cottages have won ‘Best Self-Catering Accommodation in Pembrokeshire’ two years running and were awarded ‘Best Place to Stay in Wales’ in their category of large self-catering, in the National tourism Awards for Wales.

The Minister congratulated Dewi and Jacqui Davies on achieving these awards.

The cottages themselves are equipped with everything you need kitchen wise along with comfortable bedding, satellite tv and wi fi but still retain their original character.

Our kids were very content here, not surprising considering there is a an indoor swimming pool , games room and soft play area. There are also a number of animals including goats and lambs and chickens to feed which they loved.

Dewi and Jacqui are great hosts , always available for questions and new kettles , but never getting in the way.
The surrounding countryside is incredible: forests; rivers; sandy beaches and villages here and there consisting of a chapel and three houses. This is real Wales and all the better for it.

At night when the kids have finally gone to sleep you can sit in one of the jacuzzis and look at the stars, perfect, I cannot recommend this place enough.
